Author Chat: Featuring Kylie Logan
Author Kylie Logan is one busy lady! She just recently launched the fifth book in the League of Literary Ladies Mystery Series and that isn’t all she has planned for 2017.
Kylie was kind enough to take some time to stop by our monthly Cozy Experience Facebook Party and chat with attendees about the inspiration behind her books, what she’d be doing if she wasn’t a writer, and what is coming up for her and her books.
Check out some of the highlights from our chat with Kylie below.
Can you tell us a little about the inspiration for Bea and the “League of Literary Ladies” Mystery Series?
The idea for League was a collaboration between me and my agent. I was trying to come up with a new series idea and she asked what sorts of places I knew well. Since I’ve always lived in Ohio, that was a natural answer. Then I said, “And the Lake Erie islands, of course.” Her reply, “There are islands in Lake Erie?” Because she was intrigued, I knew readers would be, too.
I love the “subplot” of Bea being a famous horror writer in hiding (FX O’Grady). This threw me a loop when we first found out about it! Did you have this idea for Bea’s secret identity when you started the series? Tell us a little more about it.
When I first came up with the idea for the series, I thought Bea might be a weaver. I happen to weave. But to me that felt so ho-hum. I wanted something with more punch, and horror writer . . .well, that seemed to fit the bill!
If you weren’t a writer, what would you be doing?
If I wasn’t a writer, I would love to be an archivist and work in a historical archive.
What is coming up for you in 2017 and beyond?
The League of Literary Ladies has been dropped by the publisher. There may be more books somewhere down the line, but for now, this is it. The good news is I have plenty of other things going. The second book in my Ethnic Eats series, French Fried, comes out in June, and I’m currently working on book #3, Italian Iced.
I also write as Casey Daniels. Under that name, I write the Pepper Martin Mystery Series. Book Ten was published in January, Graveyard Shift, and this fall, I’m premiering a historical mystery series with Smoke and Mirrors.
Thank you to Kylie for taking the time to chat with us!
