Life Beyond the Cozies – What’s New With Me

It’s been awhile since I’ve done a Life Beyond the Cozies post. These are post where I take a break from talking cozy mysteries, and chat about what is going on in my life in general. Talking books (and everything cozy) is my passion, but sometimes it’s nice to chat about other things too. I mean, that’s what we’d be doing if we were sitting down to chat over a cup of tea, right?

I’ve struggled with schedule overwhelm quite a bit this past couple weeks. All from good things, but overwhelming none the less. You see, I signed the boys up for Spring / Summer sports. This means we are now juggling schedules for hockey, soccer, AND baseball. I thought the seasons for each would spread out a little more, but to my amazement, I am finding is double (or even triple) booked a lot of nights. Thank God for my parents who have been helping me run everyone from point A to point B and still make sure we get home for homework, baths, and bed at a respectable hour. (Not to mention a Facebook Book Party or two – we can’t forget about those!?!)

My twins at hockey last night. They scrimmage for opposing teams, but both managed to pick #8 as their jersey number in a show of solidarity.

It’s not a cozy, but this book was recommended on a blog that I follow and really enjoy, so I ordered it. It should come tomorrow and I can’t wait to dive in. Hopefully it helps me find some peace in that struggle to be everything to everybody … Tell me I’m not the only one out there who does this?

I’m also pretty excited to be planning a trip to my first ever cozy mystery conference. I’ll be attending Malice Domestic in April. Have you ever attended a cozy mystery event before? We don’t get a lot of author signings in Iowa, so this will be my first ever time meeting authors in person. I’m excited and nervous. My hubby is going to come with me and we’re going to make a week of it. We used to live in the Washington, DC area, so it will be fun to catch up with friends, new and old.

I’ll also going to be doing some Facebook Live Author Interviews from Malice! (Another reason having my techie hubby along is a plus!) This way I can take you with me for the fun. Be on the lookout for my schedule coming in April. All interviews will be on the main Cozy Experience Facebook Page.

What’s new with you this week?

I’d love to know what you have going on. Let me know in the comments, or if you are not already a part of the Cozy Experience community online, I’d love to chat via Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.
