Oh, Mrs. Jeffries, How I’ve Missed You!
Have you had a book series that once you found it, you inhaled every book in the series you could find?
A few years ago for me, that was Emily Brightwell’s Inspector and Mrs. Jeffries Victorian Mystery Series.
Thanks to my local library I consumed every book in this series I could get my hands on. I tried to read them in order, but to be honest, there were a lot of them. And I hit a point where I couldn’t quite remember which ones I’d read (I blame it on having three young boys at the time).
The other day the boys and I were at the library and they were behaving (All three reading at the same time?!? It was amazing!) So I decided to sneak over to the Mystery section “just to look around.” I already had a stack of books to read at home and I didn’t really need to pick anything up.
Somehow I found myself back at the shelf with my good old friend Mrs. Jeffries. And amazingly, I found a book I hadn’t read!
Mrs. Jeffries Speakers Her Mind. I was so excited I had to snatch it up and snuck over to the cozy corner where my boys were hunkered down with Pokemon and Star Wars to read just a few pages.
Comforting, like a good cup of tea, this series was something I was missing and didn’t even know it. In less than 48 hours I consumed the whole book and found myself checking Emily’s website for the complete list of books in the series just in case I missed another.
If you are a fan of Victorian historical cozy mysteries, do yourself and check out this series. There is something about it that is just simple magic. How to try to wait (not so patiently) for the next installment to come out in 2019!
thank you for the suggestion!
