Pekoe Most Poison: A Great Book & A Giveaway!
Favorite Series Alert! Laura Childs‘s Tea Shop Mystery Series was one of the first cozies I ever read. And I fell in love with Charleston, South Carolina, the Indigo Tea Shop, Theodosia, Drayton, and the entire crew.
When this book came in the mail, I confess I sat the other book I was reading aside because I just couldn’t wait to catch up on the latest installment of this series. In Pekoe Most Poison, we follow tea shop owner Theodosia Browning as she is a guest at a “rat tea” that goes horribly wrong. A fire breaks out and in the midst of the chaos and the event hostesses’s husband is found dead. Can Theodosia and Drayton solve the case and bring the killer to justice?
It is probably no surprise I enjoyed this one. Here are my top reasons to read this book.
The Imagery
Laura Childs has me ready to book a plane ticket to scenic Charleston, South Carolina with every book. Her imagery of the city’s culture, as well as the architecture, right down to the cobblestone streets make it an idealistic setting. And then you step inside the doors of the Indigo Tea Shop. From descriptions of their upcoming speciality tea events to what Haley is cooking on the daily menu. This is one of my top five cozy mystery locations that I’d love to visit in real life someday!
The Characters
Theodosia is a great protagonist and her passion for life and her strong work ethic always shine through the story’s pages. I also adore her and Drayton’s friendship. They are an “odd couple” of sorts, but they have a strong friendship and their bond always is evident in how they work together in the tea shop, as well as how they solve cases together.
The Extras
It is customary for many cozy mystery books to provide recipes inspired by book at the end of the story. Laura Childs takes it one step further. Not only does the book contain mouth watering recipes, but also tea time tips and resources. It is a wealth of information and ideas for you to try at home.
This series is not one to miss!
From the vivid imagery, to the exciting characters, to the page turning excitement, this book is not one you want to miss. And as a special bonus, the covers are beautiful! This book is actually sitting on my coffee table as part of my fall decorations because I enjoyed the look of it so much.

My daughter got me to try some apple cinnamon tea recently and it was very good, like drinking Red Hots candy! Very yummy! I love this series and Drayton is hands down my favorite supporting character!

I love Laura’s books, have read just about all of them. I remember going to my Grandma’s house every summer with my parents and my Grandma had tea time every afternoon at 3:00. so now when I drink tea I thin of her. I like all kinds of tea, don’t have a favorite.
I love the Teavana blends, particularly winterberry and youthberry. But I never drank tea until I started reading Laura’s Tea Shop mysteries and ordered silver needle tea. [In your message above, it should be “Laura and me” not “Laura and I.” How can you tell when to use “me” or “I” when you have multiple people in the list? Easy. Drop the other person and read the sentence. Send me a message… send I a message…. Laura and me went to the store. Me went to the store…. I went to the store… Laura and I went to the store.… Read more »

One day, I hope to have my own little Indigo Tea (like) shop. I’ve wanted one for 30 years. I just hope I don’t get caught up in any murders!!
I have enjoyed this series very much. I would love to visit Theodosia’s tea shop and meet Haley and Drayton and EarlGrey. The recipes sound delicious. Laura Childs also writes a scrapbooking mystery series and the Cackleberry Club series. They all have great characters abd recipes too.
Earl Grey. I had many cuppas as a child while traveling. When I drink it as an adult, it makes me feel the warmth and love of a great childhood.
Earl Grey…it’s a classic!
I’m from Georgia/South Carolina so I’m usually a cold, sweet tea lover but I’ve grown to love hot green tea with lemon. I love all of Laura’s books because they take me home again. I sip on tea as I read them.

My all-time favorite is Mango Splash at Kaleisia Tea Lounge in Tampa. It’s a fruity, herbal tea but if I want some caffeine, I just add a scoop of it to a black or green tea!
It’s hard to pick a favourite but I do like a blueberry tea or tisane.
Book looks great. Looking forward to it. Hoping to read sooner. Rather than later.
My favorite tea is cinnamon tea. I find it relaxing. To the system which helps me relax.
I found the first book in the gift shop of a small tea room in Iowa. It was delightful. I look forward to each new book.
I am such a tea fan, but my ‘favorites’ tend to change with the seasons. Currently I am enjoying Pure Leaf black tea with vanilla. It is delightful, easily steeped to a dark, rich flavor, and holds up well when I use a splash of milk as a change of pace. Laura’s Tea Shop Mysteries are an all time favorite that I share with my mother and sister. We have our own little ‘book club.’
This series was one of my first cozy mysteries I’ve read. Totally love them and of course TEA.

I am NOT a huge hot tea drinker but my grandgirl and I enjoy A Christmas Blend.
This is my favorite series! Excited to read the newest title!
I’m a green girl, with just a little honey from our bees. I love all types, but my daily is green.
I love a good black tea, like Darjeeling and English Breakfast.
I like a full bodied black tea, like Darjeeling and English Breakfast.
Chai tea is one of my favorite hot teas. Also Earl grey.
Charleston is a character in the Indigo Tea Shop mysteries as much as Theo and Drayton are. The descriptions of Charleston’s Historic District helped me to plan a road trip to the Carolinas. I was thrilled with that city, and now when I read an Indigo Tea Shop mystery, I get out my street map and follow along. My favorite tea is a smoked tea, Wuyi Whiskey which Laura Childs mentioned in one of her Facebook posts.
