Reasons to Read “Fashionably Late”

It’s always fun to find a new series! I recently was introduced to Lisa Q. Mathews’ new book, Fashionably Late. The book takes place over the Christmas holiday season, but it is set in Florida. Thus it a totally fun book to read in the middle of summer!

This is the third installment of the Ladies Smythe and Westin Mystery Series. It is the first book I have read in the series and I was easily able to jump in and follow the story. This series pairs a multi generational sleuthing team of Dorothy Westin and Summer Smythe-Sloan. Summer and Dorothy both live at the Hibiscus Point Retirement Community (even though Summer is always in trouble for living there when under the age requirement). When a local model is pleading with them for help one minute and found dead the next, Dorothy and Summer take it upon themselves to help bring justice to their murdered friend.

I really enjoyed this one. Don’t let it fly under your radar. Here are my top reasons to check it out.

An entertaining detective team full of charm

Summer and Dorothy make a great team. I love how the women are very different. Their personalities shine through in the book, and despite their differences, they are an odd couple that works. They compliment each other well and are loyal and dedicated to their cases and their friendship.

I now have to try a Lavender Martini

While on the hunt for a suspect, Summer ends up at a local hot spot and orders a lavender martini. I’d never heard of this drink before, but let me tell you. It’s now officially on my list of things to make this summer!

The possibilities are endless

It’s fun to read a series where you can just picture more adventures for the main characters. With dynamic and entertaining characters like Summer and Dorothy, I can’t wait to see where the author takes them next!
