The Whispered Word Book Review

The only cozy mystery series I read with a highlighter. Feels like therapy every time I pick it up.

Just the Facts

Title: The Whispered Word (2nd book in the Secret, Book, and Scone Society Series)

Author: Ellery Adams

Publisher: Kensington Publishing

About the Book

A timid and frightened young girl seeks out refuge at Miracle Books. And even though she knows her share of life’s hardships, bookstore owner Nora Pennington isn’t sure she is ready to take in a runaway. But when a customer is found dead with ties to the young girl, Nora knows if she doesn’t get to the bottom of things, tragedy is likely to strike again.

Stuff You Should Know

Sub-Topics
bookstore, natural healing, bibliotherapy, strong female protagonist, female business owner, strong friendships.

Can You Start the Series in the Middle?
This is a powerful series with deep and rich characters. I’d recommend starting the series with book one to really hear the story of Nora and her fellow survivors.

Marie’s Thoughts

If you love cozies but are looking for one that has a little extra depth and richness to it, then this book is for you. Ellery Adams takes you side-by-side on a journey with a broken yet growing protagonist that I think we can all find a little bit of ourselves in. This continues to be one of my favorite series.

Want to Chat with Ellery?

You are invited to a Facebook Launch Party for this amazing book on Wednesday, November 28th. It is going to be a lot of fun. I hope you can join us.

I bought The Secret, Book, and Scone Society but haven’t had a chance to read it yet. Looking forward to, though! Thanks for the review of The Whispered Word, Marie!
